Salt Potatoes are creamy and delicious. Once you’ve tried them you will make them again and again. The perfect combination of salt and butter on these tender little potatoes still impresses me.
I was tempted to call these “Salt of the Earth Potatoes.” Because, these potatoes are thoroughly decent, reliable, and straightforward. As all good side dishes should be!
I made these recently as a side dish for my Salmon with Roasted Tomatoes, and the combination was delightful. Both the Salmon and these potatoes are a great example of wholesome ingredients, prepared simply, and cooked perfectly to showcase their natural, fresh flavors.
My sister Mary, raved about Salt Potatoes so frequently that I had to try them. Mary is no stranger to a well made potato. She’s got a slew of recipes from baked, mashed, to roasted. Her Crispy Cheese and Bacon Potatoes are awesome! Girl does not mess around with her potatoes!
When I make Salt Potatoes, I drizzle melted butter over the entire batch and stir well to coat eat potato right before serving. I like the addition of fresh herbs, but this is still a solid recipe without.
Salt Potatoes
These potatoes are straightforward, creamy and delicious. With unassuming ingredients, the cooking method results in a perfect combination of buttery goodness and the perfect amount of salt in each bite.
Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs white creamer potatoes
- 1.5 lbs purple creamer potatoes
- 3/4 cup table salt
- 1/3 cup butter
Instructions

Put a large pan on to boil with 2 quarts of water and all the salt. Trust me, it's not too much salt. They come out perfect.

When water is boiling, gently add potatoes to avoid splashing yourself.
